Mental Health Therapy in Kansas City, MO
Heartland Therapy Connection is a private practice group therapy office based in the Brookside neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. We specialize in providing trauma-informed care focused on the stories of our clients, not their diagnoses. All our clinicians are EMDR trained and we have a special interest in supporting our neighbors through education, collaborative services, and critical incident stress debriefing (CISD).
Therapy in the Kansas City Metro
Since 2020, our therapists have been providing excellent mental health care for individuals and families from the Westport, Midtown, Waldo and Brookside neighborhoods, as well Lee’s Summit, MO, Overland Park, Prairie Village and Mission Hills, KS. Conveniently located on 63rd street, we are easily accessible via 71 Hwy from the north and east, I-435 from the south.
Our practice has expert clinicians uniquely suited to meet you where you are. At HTC, we know that every client has their own story, and getting started in therapy can be daunting. We go at your pace, and create personalized treatment plans for folks dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or grief, as well as life transition, career exploration or relationship difficulties. We serve individuals as well as couples and families, because we’re all operating in community – and Heartland Therapy Connection exists to support our neighbors.
Why Choose HTC?
Finding the right therapist is hard enough without wondering if the practice itself is equipped to help. Here’s what sets Heartland Therapy Connection apart:
EMDR-Trained Across the Board.
Every clinician at HTC is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a research-backed approach for treating trauma. You won’t need to ask if “the trauma person” is available — it’s a practice-wide standard, not one therapist’s specialty.
Critical Incident Response.
Beyond individual therapy, HTC provides critical incident response and debriefing for workplaces, schools, and community organizations following traumatic events. When something happens that affects a whole team or community, we’re equipped to respond, not just refer out.
A Team, Not a Solo Practice.
HTC has grown from a party of two to 8 clinicians (plus interns!), which means if your therapist is full or a poor fit, you have real options within the practice instead of starting your search over. And, if we don’t have what you’re looking for, we know where to go.
Rooted in the Community We Serve.
We actively partner with school, non-profits, and other healthcare providers because we believe mental health support works best woven into the fabric of daily life, not walled off from it. Education and collaboration are part of how we practice, not just how we market.
Private Pay, By Design.
Being self-pay means no diagnosis codes dictating your treatment and no insurance company setting session limits. Many clients use out-of-network benefits for reimbursement, and we can help you understand how that works. It also means privacy stays a top priority; your sensitive information will not be shared or used to determine access.
