What is the cost of service?

Why Choose Heartland Therapy Connection?

HTC was founded to meet the needs of our community. This applies to our clients as well as our clinicians and community partners.

Together, we support our clients through providing excellent clinical services by highly trained therapists. We have created a flexible and fair workplace where our clinicians, admin staff and interns can learn and grow their skills, collaborate with colleagues, and actively engage in their personal lives. HTC has forged relationships in the community through providing crisis support to non-profits, shopping local with our neighborhood small businesses, and offering pro bono mental health education and support in our schools.

We know we are better connected, and we’re proud to be supporting local people and places.

Getting Started

How do I start?

We start with a connection ~ by phone, text, or email. You can reach out to our Practice Manager, Josephine, or book directly with a clinician. We want it to be as easy for you as possible, and welcome any questions you have.

What does it look like? Will I have to answer a million questions or tell my whole story?

While there is some information we need to get going, our therapists are experienced in meeting you where you are, and getting to know you first. We will go at your own pace, and work toward the goals and outcomes you determine. The first couple sessions are pretty basic- we want to get to know your story, and take some time to build the relationship.

How Long Does Therapy Take?

Depending on what you want to work on, therapy can last from 6 or 8 sessions (if you’re just looking for some quick skills to use) up to 12 or more, based on what kind of growth and change you are seeking. Clients engaging in CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) can learn tools and strategies for managing anxiety or depression symptoms in a handful of sessions.

ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) or EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) are both forms of treatment that get the best results at the 10-12+ session count. While pacing is something you’ll discuss with your provider, based on what best suits your needs, engaging in weekly (or at least biweekly) sessions for the first 10-12 weeks is highly recommended. This allows your therapist to get to know you and your personal story, and best collaborate with you on a treatment plan. It also sets you up for success and relief on a much shorter timeline.

Logistics and Policies

Where do I go?

We are located at 616 E 63rd St, KCMO, 64110. Our building has a parking lot behind it, and there are three entrances. We are in Entrance 2 if you come through the parking lot (north) side of the building. If you park on the street, use the big fancy wooden doors.

Suite 108 is located just inside the main front doors, and there are three therapists there (Alex, Meagan and Londonne). Up the stairs and to the left, past the elevator, you’ll find Suite 200, where Mary Kate, Maddi, Jeff and Anna office. If you are unsure where your appointment will be, that information is in the email confirmation, or reach out to our Practice Manager, Josephine.

What is the cancellation or no show policy?

If an appointment is cancelled within 24 hours of the meeting time, or a client does not show up, the full session fee will be charged to the card on file.
